Providing free meals to those who need them the most in the Orlando community on April 2nd, CURBSIDE at Reyes Mezcaleria
Time & Location
Orlando Chef Kristoffer Anderson and Chef Wendy Lopez are working with World Central Kitchen, a nonprofit organization founded by Chef José Andrés, that mobilizes with the urgency of now in times of crisis to get fresh meals to people who need them most by providing meals to the Orlando community on April 1 & 2nd from 1-5pm at Reyes Mezcaleria.
Restaurateurs Jason & Sue Chin of Good Salt Restaurant Group are providing Reyes Mezcaleria, their downtown Mexican eatery, as the location for preparation & pickup of the meal kits. SYSCO and Freshpoint will be sponsoring 100% of the ingredients, including all water and disposable containers.
The curbside dinner pickup will occur on Wednesday, April 1, 2020 and Thursday, April 2, 2020 from 1-5pm each afternoon. Individuals must pull over in their vehicle to receive their meal curbside (and contactless). Anyone in need of a free meal is encouraged to sign up in advance. Guests are expected to adhere to contactless communication & reception of the meals to protect the health of staff & volunteers.
The menu will be a Paella & Gazpacho dinner, but it is the hope to continue these meals weekly with a rotating menu to help offset the strain of furlough and unemployment families are experiencing at this time. The average cost to provide these meals is $2.85 per meal. If you would like to donate towards the meal fund, please click HERE
